This beautiful car is my dad's old Firebird. I am very frustrated that he got rid of it because I would love to have this car.

car1

The car is a 1967 Pontiac Firebird, the first year they made them, serial number 405 so it was probably made in the first couple weeks of the production run. It started out with a 6-cylinder engine and a Power- Glide 2 speed automatic transmission from a 1972 Chevelle. It had a Quadra-jet carburetor from a 420 Buick and a set of Micky Thompson Super Stock Headers with 4-inch collectors. From there it went through a set of 20-inch glass packs and the exhaust exited just in front of the rear wheels.

The interior was totally stock, including the factory molded door panels with integral armrests. It also sported black bucket seats, black carpet and black headliner with a black metal topped console. The car was originally gold but my dad painted it solid black, making for some very warm summers

He started work on the car in 1979, spent 9 months working on it and sold it in 1984 after putting 165,000 miles on it. When he bought it, the car was sitting in a pile of dust in a field  with the old engine in the trunk and the head in the back seat. I wish I had that car.
